What
services of Special Events and Protocol (SE&P)
are available to my department?
- If the Chancellor, UC President or Regents, or high-ranking
government officials will be involved with your event in
any capacity, SE&P must be involved. Contact
our office at SEP@ucsd.edu or call (858) 534-6386 for a
consultation.

How do I get my event listed for the campus community
to see?
- Events can be listed on the campus wide calendar by going
to the UCSD News and clicking on “add
event”.

How do
I get the Chancellor to attend my event?
- ONLY External relations employees may submit a request
online using the Chancellor’s
Participation System
- Other campus departments should submit requests through
respective Vice Chancellor.

Protocol
SE&P is the official reference
point for protocol and program issues for all the UCSD
ceremonies, programs, events and dignitary visits.
UCSD Medals
The following are the only approved medals presented at
UCSD.
- Chancellor’s Medal was established
in the year 2000 to recognize outstanding community service
to the University of California, San Diego by persons who
are not members of its faculty or staff.
- Revelle Medal is UCSD's highest honor
given in recognition of distinguished and sustained service
to the University (UCSD) by persons who are not members
of its faculty or staff. The medal commemorates Roger
Revelle’s role in establishing a general campus of
the University of California, San Diego, as well as his
contributions to science.
- UCSD Medal is the highest honor given
by the University of California, San Diego in recognition
of significant accomplishments in public life. It
is given in place of an honorary degree, to distinguished
persons who visit the campus.
