A Race for Scholars :
About the Chancellor's Challenge 5K

Since it was established in 1996, the Chancellor’s Challenge 5K Run/Walk for Scholars has raised $2.12 million, changing the lives of more than 800 UC San Diego students who have received scholarships.

The event was founded by UC San Diego’s former chancellor Robert C. Dynes to rally the campus in support of undergraduate students. Since then, Chancellor Marye Anne Fox has taken the helm, helping to top the $2 million fundraising mark and growing the event to include 1,500 participants and volunteers each year.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni, corporate sponsors and community friends are welcome. Lunch will be provided and participants will also receive a 2009 5K t-shirt. Online registration for students is $10. The online registration cost for all others is $15. There are many ways to participate:

Run or walk to support student scholarships
  Become a Chancellor's Challenge 5K volunteer
Make a tax-deductible gift to scholarships
Join us as a corporate or individual sponsor
